How to clean bongs and pipes

Always clean your bong or pipe and there is a easy and fast way. Get isopropanol 99% anything less will be hard to clean with and a ton more money as you will have to use more then if you got the 99%. Now get salt (that's right) salt, regular table salt fine grain because it acts like sandpaper for your bong. It will not ruin your pipe or bong, break it or scratch it. Now empty the bong leave no water and pour salt in, and next you want to pour about 1 cup of isopropanol in and plug the spout and the shaft ( use your thumb for the spout, and your palm for the shaft ) Now shake.

Now its clean like magic and if for some reason you have NEVER cleaned it before which would be gross, Repeat again after your dump out the sludge. Oh my! its clean I bet your never thought it was possible, but this is the best cheapest way to clean them and super easy.
Others have recommended (Paint thinner, jewellery cleaners etc) again don't bother with these types. How often do you have to repeat this? Well that's up to you, but Every week would be a start. Also clean the bowl's and downspout's this way to even your metal grinders. I have not tested this on plastic bongs for damage so be careful. Don't be fooled at cleaners you find at your local head shop, isopropanol works just as good, as long as you get the full strength solution and use salt or even rock salt or a mix.You can buy ispropanol at any drug store.

  3. It depends, Sometimes up to 1/4 cup or more if it's really dirty and you have a big bong.

Note - The measurements are used with actual measuring cups not just 1/4 of any cup.

I do this one or twice a week and my bong looks brand new every time.. the only mildly annoying part sometimes can be cleaning the female. a trick for the female.. if you're able to, remove it from the bong itself, put it in a normal sandwich bag (ones that lock close in any way are your best bet) and put some of the rubbing alcohol and salt in the bag with the female and shake it.. it cleans it a bit easier then if it's in the bong.

  8. Iso alcohol is the HARD way ! My Easiest way is Cascade dishwasher detergent & almost boiling hot water. 1) Empty Bong of old water 2)Plug Holes & add 1 or 2 tbs. of Cascade & Fill Glass Bong completely with HOT water & let stand 5 or 10 mins. depending on how dirty Bong is to loosen resin build up. 3) Unplug Holes & Flush 2 or 3 times with almost boiling hot water. Bong will Look Pristine. It cleans the most complex percs & Parts easily.I boil a large pot of water & I use a 1 qt. plastic container like you get from chinese take-out for hot soup to scoop up the water to pour through the bong. As soon as you unplug the holes & Flush the first qt.of Hot water through, The Glass will be Gleaming. The Second & third Qts of water flush out any odors or remaining residue.
I have a 19" 5 m.m. Bong with a 24 arm perc w/Shower Head & a 11 arm Perc Pre-Cooler. The Hot Water & Cascade keep my Baby looking brand spanking NEW. The First Time I tried this method, my Bong had not been cleaned for at least 2 or 3 months. It was looking REALLY CRUSTY ! after a 5 or 10 minute soak & 3 Flushes She came out SPARKLING... Even the Percs. !!! I WAS NEVER ABLE to REALLY get my Percs. CLEAN using ISO ! NEVER !! ISO ALWAYS LEFT A RESIDUE !! With CASCADE & HOT WATER,YOU WILL NEVER SEE RESIDUE SPOTS on your BONG PARTS EVER AGAIN !!!
