The true meaning of 420

The true meaning behind the term 420 - Ever been smoking a bowl at 4:20 and wonder where the term came from in the first place? In this article we will tell you when the meaning really came into effect.

In 1971 there was this group of 5 teenagers from San Rafael, California who were called the "Waldo's" because they use to hang out outside of the school walls almost everyday. They used to meet everyday at exactly 4:20pm at the Louis Pasteur statue. This was there meeting spot before searching for an abandoned marijuana crop that they learned about from someone. They called their plan "4:20 Louis" because they always met at 4:20pm and it was always at the same statue. After several failed attempts in finding the marijuana they shortened the name to just 420, and this is where the true meaning of came from.

Now 40 years later we stoners celebrate April 20th as a day to get totally baked, its the one time of year a true stoner looks forward to. Despite the fact that the true meaning of 420 is celebrating an illegal drug it is still considered a holiday by many. Millions gather around the world to celebrate not only the use of marijuana, but also the change they hope it will have on the world. Every year on the first Saturday of May, across the globe millions gather and protest for the legalization of marijuana in hopes that one day they will either legalize it or at least decriminalize it.

Maybe this year will be our year for some change. To show your support on the legalization of marijuana go to the Marijuana freedom march  to celebrate its 13th year running. This event is one of the biggest global events going. If only the people would take the hint and at least decimalize it. I guess we will have to wait and see if this year will make a difference if not, well at least we get one day out of the year to join thousands of people in a march and smoke marijuana right in front of cops.
